Winter season in the Hardangerfjord
The Hardangerfjord region has a typical western winter with a lot of rainfall, which gives snowy winters in the mountains, but during the winter the fjordside villages also can get periods with a lot of snow. The snow conditions in the mountains makes way for a long and great season for skiing and snowshoeiing with many spectacular winter landscape views.
Activities
Hardangerfjord Adventure offers guided snowshoe hikes, RIB fjord safaris on the Hardangerfjord and guided ski touring during the winter season.
The RIB fjord safaris is offered both as daily scheduled departures and private small group tours on reguest from our bases in Norheimsund, Øystese and Rosendal. We have scheduled departures from Norheimsund in November and from mid January throughout April, and from Rosendal from November throughout April. Private tours can be booked all days from November throughout April from all 3 bases.
Our
guided snowshoe hikes
is operated in the area around Norheimsund and Øystese from December to mid April. All the hikes are private and are customized to each group (max 8 people) and are conducted in landscapes with either forest, mountain lakes or fjord viewpoints.
The guided
randonée ski touring
tours are all private for groups up to 6-8 people. These tours are conducted in the mid-Hardangerfjord area where we find safe summits regarding avalanche risks with panaramic fjord views.
RIB fjord safaris
Our bases in Norheimsund and Øystese is situated 80-90 minutes from Bergen midway into the Hardangerfjord. The RIB safaris from these bases goes to the Hardangerfjord branch Fyksesund. This beautiful branch is the most narrow part of the whole Hardangerfjord and during the winter season parts of the branch can be covered in ice.
Our base in Rosendal is situated in the outer part of the Hardangerfjord and is reachable by passenger boat from Bergen (2 hours). The RIB safaris from Rosendal goes around lovely Hardangerfjord islands with spectalar views of the surounding fjord mountains.
Snowshoeing
Experience the serene beauty of Hardangerfjord's winter landscapes on our captivating private snowshoe tours. Led by local guides, these easy hikes offer intriguing stories, stunning views, and the perfect photo opportunities.
The tours are customized for each group and are conducted in the landscapes around Norheimsund and Øystese.
Randonée ski touring
Our guided ski touring on randonnée skiis goes to summit peaks with spectacular fjord views over the Hardangerfjord and the glacier Folgefonna. The tours are private and will be customized for each group up to 6-8 people.
The mountains in the mid Hardangerfjord are easily accessible and offer great views and skiing. Fun descent with a great view of the fjord and valleys the way. We pick summits with low avalanche risk and the focus is always having a safe and great tour.
Each season we arrange fully pre-packed ski touring weekends. These weekends includes 3 days of guided ski touring, 3 nights at a hotel by the fjord, delicious local food, cider tasting session, RIB fjord safari and transport beetween all activities.
